We are family of friends of an amazing little girl Lucy Sykes, from Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Lucy was born extremely premature at just 25 weeks and suffers with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy in addition to other life changing conditions too. We are undertaking the challenge to raise funds for the local charity group Sunflowers Children's Action Group. This group has been amazing. They have supported Lucy and the family enabling Lucy to Iive life to her maximum. We have decided to embark on the challenging journey of the Yorkshire Three Peaks in order to raise money for the extraordinary opportunities that the Sunflowers provide for children like Lucy with life limiting conditions. Fundraising pageSunflowers Children's Action Group is a small, vomunteer run, local charity which was formed in 2019 to create special, inclusive events and activities for children who suffer with life-limiting and/or life-threatening conditions. Life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses vary in degree, but most have principally the same effect on our registered children. They miss out on parties and special events and many endure harsh and painful treatments. Most have lengthy school absences and lack quality time with families and friends. These children may suffer every day of their lives and will do for the rest of their lives – sadly, some face the prospect of much shortened lives. We feel strongly that these children and their families should know that there is a community out there that cares; our group is formed of unpaid volunteers, who want to make a difference to them. We want to work with local hospitals, hospices, outreach services, nurses. We want to help them to make a difference to their children too, because sometimes they have to put them through some pretty awful things. Giving good news to a poorly child is often a rarity. We are NOT looking to be the next ‘big’ charity, but outside of genuine costs we will spend the money on our children. Not wages. A community cause for, and by, the community. If you’d like to get involved, donate or would like to sponsor us in any way, please get in touch. Thank you so much.
