Three Peaks Challenge Registrations

Three Peaks for Charity

Our Names are Jacob, Harrison and Isaac, and we have decided to do the three peaks challenge for charity. We have slightly modified the challenge for it to fit to our constraints, so we will be travelling up from Kent on Friday the 6th of June, staying over night, then climbing Ben Nevis early Saturday morning (02:30hrs early) to catch the sunrise hopefully. Then down to Scafell Pike Saturday afternoon. We will travel down to Snowdonia, staying overnight, and then climb Snowdon the next day. We all have charities that are close to us, and, as we will explain below, the money we raise will be going to these two charities. Two thirds of the money will be going to Jacob and Isaac’s charity, the final third will be going to mine. So, it would be brilliant if we could raise as much money as possible for these two great charities. Jacobs charity is the Ronald McDonald Housing Charity, and here is his cousin talking about how this great cause helped them: “On the 28th of May 2024 our lives as new excited parents suddenly switched for the worse as one of our twins was admitted to the Evelina Children's Hospital in London. We were of course frightened of what to do. We looked into every option how we could make it possible to stay close to our baby, with the decision of insane hotel prices or spending money on travel each day with the other twin and myself recovering from a major surgery. As our world was crumbling and our baby was fighting for his life the Ronald McDonald Housing Charity was able to do the unforgettable and offer us FREE accommodation in their house in Lambeth called the Evelina. This took a huge weight of us and gave us the option to see our baby every minute of every day with a safe place to go back to each night. The offer prepped meals, snacks throughout the day and make it feel like a home. We will never be more thankful to the RMHC and to every single person that donates to them, they are able to give parents who are going through the unthinkable and make it that bit easier and we are forever grateful.” My name is Harrison and I am doing the three peaks challenge to raise money for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust because I recently lost my Nan to this rare condition. This condition meant that her bone marrow wasn’t producing enough new blood cells, due to the immune system mistakenly attacking the bone marrow stem cells. This left her having to have blood transfusions and platelets twice a week, meaning that sometimes she would spend a whole day in hospital and was left exhausted. It also left her vulnerable to many infections, such as sepsis. My poor Nan had started feeling ill in March last year, and only got a diagnosis in August. This was so hard, because all she wanted was to know what she had, so we could start taking steps towards treating the condition. In the last few months, she started receiving treatment, which meant her staying at the hospital. It hurt us as a family to know she was there all alone, not in the comfort of her own home. So, we did our best to make sure she had visitors every day. My Nan took great pride in spoiling me, my brother and my cousin, she loved it. It was her way of showing us how much she loved us, and I will be forever grateful for everything my Nan has done for me. She left a great impact on everyone that knew her and I know my Nanny Bebe will be dearly missed by each of them. So, I think it is only right that I try raise as much money as I can in her name, by doing this challenge. The money I raise will go to helping the Aplastic Anaemia Trust develop treatments for any patients who have this rare condition or other cases where bone marrow failure has occurred. It will also help spread awareness on the disease and provide support for those who have it, to make sure they don’t feel alone. If you are able to, then please donate what you can, it would mean the world to me. Thank you!
