Three Chaps, Three Peaks, One Mum

About the National Three Peaks Challenge

The National Three Peaks Challenge takes in the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.

What are we doing? We are three chaps taking on three peaks with one Mum driving us between them. Our mission is this: conquer the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. A gruelling endurance event, not only in the climbing but also in the driving. Who are we? Jake - Expedition Lead & Chef Jake is a seasoned outdoorsman who has never failed to find danger in his life. He is leading the expedition and is chef de cuisine. He took the unilateral decision to buy the team a large bag of lemon isotonic drink powder to share in the firm belief that eating whole-foods on the mountain will be an egregious waste of weight and time. Paddy - Navigator & Routemaster Paddy surveys bats and other creepers and critters for his job. He will need to draw on his vicariously learned echolocation skills to help the team navigate in the full darkness of the final mountain, Snowden. A keen hiker, he enjoys stomping around Dartmoor, and is more than willing to give it all for the glory of the challenge. Ed - Mountain Equipment & Safety, Photography and Whiskey Officer Ed says he knows first aid. It remains to be seen. He remains committed to the team. GO TEAM, he says. He like Paddy loves a stomp around the hills. He seems less certain about the isotonic powder. Mum - Driver, Physio & Motivator Mum is a seasoned driver who knows the UK's roads and traffic dynamics like the back of her finely moisturised hands. Undeniably the most important link in the chain, she brings a dearth of physiotherapy experience from a long career in the NHS - albeit her job was treating life-long smokers. She nonetheless claims to remember bits of musculo-skeletal from the early days. Who are we supporting? We are taking on this challenge in memory of Jake's granny and grandma - Eileen and Patsy, and Paddy's grandma - Eileen, who all suffered from the affliction of dementia in later life. We are raising money to support Alzheimer's Research UK, the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist to find a cure for dementia. Your donation will help their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.
