The Yorkshire Peaks Challenge involves climbing Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside within 12 hours.
Hello, my name is David, this is my second time on doing something to help try prevent knife crime. Last year I did Scafell Pike and accomplished my target goal of £500. This year my target is £1000 and I will be attempting to do Yorkshire 3 peaks with my wife Emma. The reasoning behind is because Knife crime prevention is something that is close to my heart. On Monday 17th February 2020 my best friend Taylor was murdered, he was stabbed 64 times with proved fatal for him & now for me to honour his memory I will be doing something every year to help raise money to prevent it happening to someone else. All funds/proceeds will be going to The Chris Cave Foundation of which I feel is a great charity as they were there to support all of Taylor’s family/friends during those horrible times. When someone chooses to pick up a knife it is not just the victims they are hurting, they are hurting the friends/family of that victim. At least 41% of deaths are knife crime related which I feel is too high of a number in this day and age. My aim is to keep raising awareness surrounding knife crime as it generally is forgotten about until another victim has been claimed.
