We were a group of fire fighters from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service. Serving members often raised money for charities through running, cycling etc. These guys were members of the walking and climbing section of the brigade who decided that they would like to break the existing fire service record which stood at that time at around 23 hours. We did break the record in a time of 21 hrs. 55 mins. At the same time we raised around £900 for Cancer and Leukaemia in Children Trust, now Click Sergeant. (£2,500 approx. in today's terms).

The National Three Peaks Challenge takes in the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, often in 24 hours.
